Imaging from the visible to the longwave infrared wavelengths via an inverse-designed flat lens

چکیده

It is generally assumed that correcting chromatic aberrations in imaging requires optical elements. Here, we show by allowing the phase image plane to be a free parameter, it possible correct variation of focal length over an extremely large bandwidth, from visible (Vis) longwave infrared (LWIR) wavelengths using single diffractive surface, i.e., flat lens. Specifically, designed, fabricated and characterized flat, multi-level lens (MDL) with thickness {\pounds} 10{\mu}m, diameter ~1mm, = 18mm, which was constant operating bandwidth l=0.45{\mu}m (blue) 15{\mu}m (LWIR). We experimentally point-spread functions, performance cameras comprised this MDL appropriate sensors. further simulations such extreme achromatic MDLs can achieved even at high numerical apertures (NA=0.81). By drastically increasing eliminating several refractive lenses, our approach enables thinner, lighter simpler systems.

Optical Interferometry : Imaging at Visible and Infrared Wavelengths

Progress in astronomy is dependent on the development of new instrumentation that can provide data which are better in some way than the data which were available before. One improvement that has consistently led to astronomical discoveries is that of seeing finer detail in objects. In astronomy, the majority of the objects under study cannot easily be brought closer for inspection, so the typi...

A comparison of laser-induced retinal damage from infrared wavelengths to that from visible wavelengths

Corneal, lenticular, and retinal damage have been observed following exposures to a laser emitting in the near-infrared wavelength range (Nd:Y AG, 1.318 ~m). Ocular damage thresholds are much higher than for visible wavelengths. However, it was found that infrared (IR) exposures may result in multiple damage sites throughout the ocular medium and retina; that exposure sites which initially appe...

Video-rate computational super-resolution and light-field integral imaging at longwave- infrared wavelengths

We report the first computational super-resolved, multi-camera integral imaging at long-wave infrared (LWIR) wavelengths. This technique has been made possible by the drastic price reduction provided by low-resolution LWIR uncooled detector technology. An array of FLIR Lepton cameras, each with a resolution of 80x60 pixels is synchronized and computational super-resolution and integral-imaging ...

from linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

the aesthetic dimension of howard barkers art: a frankfurtian approach to scenes from an execution and no end of blame
